The SILRES® BS 1808 CN emulsion is a stable mixture of silane and siloxane. The mixture is sensitive to hydrolysis, but the hydrolysis reaction occurs only when the substrate is added. Hydrolysis demilsifies the emulsion and releases very small amounts of ethanol, which converts the emulsion into a silicone water proofing agent.

SILRES® BS 1808 CN is incorporated into the building material to reduce the capillary water absorption of the material, but does not clog the pores and pores, so it does not affect the breathability of the building material itself, i.e. its breathability.
