Although SILRES® BS 5350 is not water-based and does not contain surfactants or solvents, it is commonly used in water-based AAC pastes as a so-called monolithic or monolithic hydrophobic additive and dispersed by shear forces between liquid and solid in the mixer. The liquid and solid are separated by shear forces in the mixer.

SILRES®BS 5350 can greatly reduce the water absorption of AAC (as measured by EN 772-11), but unlike other hydrophobic additives, SILRES®BS 5350 has negligible effects on compressive strength and pore size distribution or thermal conductivity compared to other hydrophobic additives. In addition, no negative effects were observed on the adhesion strength of cement-based AAC thin layer adhesives.
